We have been getting a lot of questions lately about whether or not melon and green beans are allowed on the HCG diet. Traditionally no. But we are living in a progressive and evolving society. If you do wish to add additional foods to your approved foods list, there are a few things to consider:
- Is it going to put your over daily calorie goal?
- Does it contain a high amount of sodium?
- Does it contain a high amount of sugar (even natural sugars)?
Many people are looking to the HCG protocol more as guidelines than strict rules. Remember, the rules were put in place because they worked, but many times, it is too difficult for some individuals to follow these and they may need to make some exceptions. If you are looking to substitute specific foods, please just make sure that you are following the criteria that is mentioned above.
